Sleeping bags, bug juice and an amazing set of memories.
If you’re considering a summer camp in North Carolina for your child, make a bee line to our neck of the woods. For nearly one hundred years, kids from all over the nation have come to the woods armed with rucksacks, footlockers and stationary for letters home to spend their summer holidays at one of Transylvania County’s many noteworthy summer camps.
So beloved are many of these summertime homes-away-from-home that it’s not unusual to see former campers return decades later to seek out the sacred spots where they first learned to dive, shoot an arrow, ride a horse, paddle a boat and conquer homesickness with a roasted marshmallow and a good ghost story.
