Like so many before her, artist Ann Dergara derives inspiration from the mountains surrounding Brevard. There are hundreds of other artists and craftspeople living here who are just like her. Together, they constitute one of the most robust art communities in the Southern Appalachian mountains. Downtown Brevard alone has more art galleries per block than any city of similar size in the state. This dedication to art and culture prompted Blue Ridge Country to name Brevard “the newest arts hub in western North Carolina.”
In this film, Ann explains that, while artists like her take inspiration from their adopted home, they also have found exciting and innovative ways to give back to the community.
