Over the years, Transylvania County has established its reputation as the “Cycling Capital of the South.” It’s no wonder. With over 300 miles of splendid single track (and hundreds more miles of fire roads) threading through Pisgah National Forest and DuPont State Recreational Forest, cyclists speak of Transylvania County with the same reverence as Moab and Whistler.
When it comes to North Carolina mountain biking, no other destination on the east coast comes close to what Transylvania County offers. The area’s road cycling heritage is impressive, too, serving as the training ground for such Tour de France greats as George Hincapie. In this film, you’ll see just how far — and how high — two wheels can carry you.
